Who WAS Responsible For This?!

Our distiguished alumni. They made us laugh. They made us cry. They made Uphill Both Ways into a well-oiled, purring sketch comedy machine. We're honored to have worked with each and every one of them, and we still honor them here on our "figurative" alter... with plenty of "figurative" animal sacrifices. Yes. Lots and lots of "figurative" animal sacrifices. Don't tell "figurative" PETA.

ALEX BLAGG: Born in Southern California, Alex Blagg came to San Francisco by way of Memphis, Tennessee, where he spent the latter portion of his formative years. Alex has worked as a professional writer, comedian, actor and filmmaker and it has since become quite clear to him that he has a desperate, insatiable, possibly pathological need for attention. So please -- give it to him. Over and over again. If you would like to "give it to him" online, you may follow his various foibles, exploits and endeavors at www.alexblagg.com. Alex relocated to NYC and is currently generating buzz as an up-and-coming stand-up comic.

BILL KELLY: For a year and a half, Bill wowed audiences with his brilliant portrayals of women and incredibly flamboyant gay men. He had other parts, but they weren't nearly as interesting. He loved wearing dresses and wigs. He went to gay bars for "research". He tried to convince us that he was straight, but we just didn't buy it. Even when he became engaged (to a woman!) and moved to Texas with her, we were still not convinced. Seriously, though, Bill was absolutely fabulous and anyone who saw him perform would agree... Oh, yeah!

RON LEVI: Like Dave and Colin, Ron cut his sketch comedy teeth as a member of the Cornell University Skits-O-Phrenics, where he made his academic mark getting kicked out of drama classes. Since then, Ron has appeared on Broadway where he saw the critically acclaimed Les Miserables starring Debbie Gibson, as well as Mel Brooks’ The Producers. He also visited the bathroom at Urinetown: The Musical. He currently lives in San Francisco with his fantastic wife, Megan, and their goofy dog, Ralph. To support Ron's various bad habits, be sure to buy and sell lots and lots of tickets at StubHub.com.

ED MADDEN: One of the founding members of UBW, Ed was a pioneer of sketch comedy. Literally. He wore a Daniel Boone hat, named his car the "Wagon Train", and frequently panned for gold in his bath tub. His beloved wife, Mollie, did lights & sound for us, created wonderful costumes, and made a mean batch of Rice Krispy Treats. Oh, Mollie, we miss you so. Why did you move to L.A.? Our relationship was so perfect. We cry ourselves to sleep every night thinking of you... only you. Tell Ed we said hi.

SEAN McGINN: A founding member of UBW, Sean is a critically-acclaimed performer, writer, and television producer whose credits include the PBS series Livelyhood, TechTV, KRON4, The History Channel, and KQED's Digital West. On stage, Sean has performed as Mr. Green in Clue; Rod Serling in The Twilight Zone, and he originated the role of Stan in the two-person play Far From Springer, hailed as one of San Francisco's Top Ten Theater Experiences of 2002. He was a founding member of Chicago's Rudely Elegant Theatre. He wrote and performed the role of Ken in Barbie: The Fantasies and founded the improv group Boys in the Bathroom. Sean relocated to LA and is currently enrolled in The Groundlings School of Improvisation.
